Carnival and Valentine’s Day on Terceira Island

Programme

1. 13 FEB 2026: Lisbon/Terceira

   Check-in 2 hours before the flight. After landing at Lajes airport, a local guide welcomes you and accompanies you to your hotel. Hotel check-in and dinner at the hotel. Overnight stay.

2. 14 FEB 2026: Serra do Cume and Praia da Vitória

   Buffet breakfast. At 9 am, departure from the hotel for a full-day tour of the island, with stops on the south and east coasts and in the interior. Visit the volcanic peninsula of Monte Brasil, photograph the monumental Bull statue, admire the view over Cabras islet, stroll through the town of São Sebastião and visit one of the oldest churches on the island, walk by the natural pools of Porto Martins, take in the view from the Facho viewpoint over the city of Praia da Vitória, explore the historic centre of the birthplace of Vitorino Nemésio, enjoy Terceira’s typical lunch, beef “alcatra” (a vegetarian option is also available), admire and photograph the landscape from the Serra do Cume viewpoint, explore the Frechas leisure area and walk through the Furnas do Enxofre fumarole field. Return to the hotel. Romantic dinner to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Overnight stay.

3. 15 FEB 2026: Angra do Heroísmo / Dances and bailinhos

   Buffet breakfast. Departure from the hotel at 9.30 am for a full-day tour, with highlights including the city of Angra do Heroísmo and the west and north coasts of the island. Walk through the historic centre of Angra do Heroísmo (the Angra do Heroísmo museum, Duque da Terceira garden, the Palace of the Captains-General and the cathedral) and learn the history and importance of a city whose historic centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Lunch stop at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, more Carnival dances and bailinhos. Return to the hotel. Dinner at the hotel. Overnight stay.

4. 16 FEB 2026: West coast and Biscoitos / Bailinhos and dances

   Buffet breakfast. Departure from the hotel at 9 am for a tour of the west and north coasts: walk by the natural swimming pools of Biscoitos, stroll around the Lagoa das Patas leisure area, photograph the south-west coast, taste 4 kinds of Terceira artisan cheese and visit the small fishing harbour of São Mateus. Lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, more Carnival dances and bailinhos. Return to the hotel around 5 to 5.30 pm. Dinner at the hotel. Overnight stay.

5. 17 FEB 2026: Bailinhos and dances

   Buffet breakfast. Free morning. Hotel check-out at 12 noon and luggage collection. Lunch at a local restaurant and, in the afternoon, the Carnival bailinhos and dances. At 4 pm, return to Lajes airport for check-in.
