The tour
Join us on a themed half-day tour of Terceira Island (starting around 2 pm), focused on the geology and volcanology of the island. Climb to the top of Serra do Cume and take in the view over the largest volcanic caldera in the Azores; heading north, stop in the parish of Biscoitos to visit the natural swimming pools formed by lava flows and the vineyards planted in volcanic rock; then, towards the interior of the island, visit the Gruta do Natal lava tube, the Furnas do Enxofre fumarole field and the empty volcano of Algar do Carvão.
